All tapestries are made from start to finish by Kate Crowley-Gilbert. They begin with hundreds of strands of soft, merino wool yarn suspended from a single hand-stained dowel. The yarn is then carefully dip-dyed, sometimes a single strand at a time, into meticulously mixed dyebaths made from the highest quality dyes from Australia. The strands are dyed and drip-dried several times in order to achieve the bold shapes and colors necessary for each design. The inherent warmth of the materials together with the modernity of the subject leaves us with statement-making art that feels at home in any room.
Tapestries may be custom ordered in the above designs or ready-made works may be available in “Kate’s Collection”. To start a conversation about placing a custom order, please fill out the form below along with any details and questions. Each piece takes approximately three weeks to make and the next available time slots begin in February, 2019. Thank you!
